Introduction

The missions of Institute Pasteur of Shanghai, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IPS), are to develop and promote research, education and public health activities to contribute to the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.

Immunity to viral infection is dependent on innate immune system, adaptive immune system and their reciprocal interactions in the host. Over the past decades, our understanding on the mechanisms of anti-viral immunity has dramatically progressed, but a complete eradication of several human major infectious diseases, including AIDS, viral chronic hepatitis, seasonal and pandemic influenza, and severe acute respiratory syndrome, still remain a great challenge to human health.

A number of world’s leading experts in viral immunology, in basic, translational and clinical sciences, have accepted to give lectures for this course. The topics cover innate immunity, adaptive immunity, the immune response to pathogen infection, and vaccine biology.

This course is issued from the partnership of AREVA group with Institute Pasteur of Shanghai, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IPS-CAS).
